PAYMENT technology firm Visa said it will launch a new e-commerce service for Chinese card holders to shop overseas as it taps their growing demand to buy from overseas shopping sites on mobile devices.
The partnership between Visa and comGateway will allow Chinese travelers to purchase through a mobile application using a non-US issued credit card as the Chinese are keen to look for bargains on US sites.
The "comGateway" mobile application allows price comparison and offers an estimated cost of international shipping.
Cross-border shopping has been on the rise in recent years and convenient and reliable shipping is a key factor for consumer experience.
With the new Visa service, buyers can also get a discount on shipping fees when they pay with China-issued Visa cards.
According to a recent survey conducted by Visa, 70 percent of the respondents said they browsed shopping sites on a smartphone and 50 percent they did so with a tablet.
