AMAZON Inc is set to debut the long-awaited Kindle, the world's most popular e-book reader, in China next month, media reports said yesterday.

The price for the Wi-Fi only Kindle Paperwhite will start from 849 yuan (US$134). It costs US$119 in the US. Amazon will also sell 3G Kindle in China as well as Kindle Fire. The sales will begin on June 7, Sina.com and Sohu.com said yesterday.

Suning, one of China's major electronics retailers, will also sell the Kindle devices in the domestic market.

Amazon China, however, was not able to comment on the issue yesterday.

Three weeks ago, Amazon opened a mobile application store for Android phone and tablet users in China. In December, the company launched an online e-book store and related apps in China.
