Global online security software provider Kaspersky has launched a campaign to relieve people affected by the snow disaster in China by offering one year’s free use of its anti-virus software.
From January 29, 2008, Kaspersky will offer its anti-virus software KAV 7.0 free of charge to Chinese users, who only need to register a membership at Kaspersky’s online BBS before they can use the software.
Zhang Lishen, general manager of Kaspersky Asia Pacific, said that the company launched this activity to respond to the nation’s call for helping people in disaster-hit areas and to ensure each consumer can have a virus-free Spring Festival holiday.
It’s awfully nice of them to do this, and it may even be a clever marketing program. Somehow I don’t think it will provide much comfort to the millions of people fighting to get home for the holiday.
