MII Stats on the IT Sector in China
Aggregated Source: Catching Mice in ChinaPacific Epoch has a brief summary of some end-of-year statistics from China’s Ministry of Information Industry (MII).
The MII press release (in Chinese) is here. The numbers are for January to November, 2007.
Some highlights:
- Computer industry profits were 35.77 billion RMB, up 59.4%
- Software industry profits were 496.84 billion RMB, up 20%
- Systems integration services revenue was 122.42 billion RMB, up 14.4%
- Software technical services revenue were 79.62 billion RMB, up 20.8%, down 1% from previous month
- Embedded software revenue 105.51 billion RMB, up 25.7%, down 2% from previous month
- Integrated circuits revenue 15.74 billion RMB, up 20%, down 24.4% from previous month
I’m not sure why different sectors reported profits or revenues. It would be interesting to see the profits from services.
Pacific Epoch also provides balance of trade data for the IT industry:
China’s IT product import and export volume reached US$727 billion from January to November, 2007, according to Ministry of Information Industry (MII) data. China exported US$414 billion worth of IT products in the period, a 26.2 percent year-on-year increase, while the US$313 billion in imports was up 20.3 percent year-on-year.
Unfortunately there’s no breakdown by sector.
