Better Cancel that Liver Transplant Holiday

This is sorta creepy, but I guess I agree with the spirit of the policy:

China’s Ministry of Health said Monday it is strictly enforcing a new rule that bars foreigners on a tourist visa from receiving organ transplants from local donors.

The rule, issued in July as part of efforts to better manage a severely limited supply of human organs, says Chinese citizens should take priority when carrying out transplants. <LINK>

Note that there is a big shortage here of available organs, so giving priority to Chinese nationals over wealthier foreign tourists makes some sense.

Brings up an interesting question, though: do Chinese people have a problem with organ donation? I know that my wife is adamantly against it, but that’s only one opinion.
