Reincarnation of Tibetan Living Buddhas Must Get Government Approval
Aggregated Source: China HearsayOK, I know absolutely nothing about this topic and don’t comment at all on religion. However, that headline above comes verbatim from People’s Daily - is it as amusing to you as it was for me?
Just a little insight on the government/religion thing, or perhaps the idea of government as religion. Kind of reminds me of something President Bush said a while back about leaking classified information - he said essentially that if the president does something, it must be legal. In other words, the government is infallible, no matter what that pesky Constitution says. Strangely enough, that’s what this People’s Daily article reminds me of.
This is a fun quote:
All the reincarnations of living Buddhas of Tibetan Buddhism must get government approval, otherwise they are “illegal or invalid,” China’s State Administration for Religious Affairs (SARA) said Friday.
